Loeffler endocarditis of the left ventricle: cardiac magnetic resonance findings.

چکیده
W report the case of a 70 year-old woman of Caucasic origin. She was admitted to the emergency department for dyspnoea and hospitalised for acute pulmonary oedema. On admission, eosinophilia was documented. Twodimension (2D) echocardiography displayed normal left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF = 65%) and transmitral restrictive pattern. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) cine images showed a complete obliteration of the left ventricular apex by a mass with similar density of the myocardium. This mass occupied cardiac apex and midpatient remains clinically stable (NYHA class II), without subsequent readmissions for heart failure, and no changes in systolic or diastolic function in control echocardiography.

The Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...
متن کاملMetastatic myocardial abscess on the posterior wall of the left ventricle: a case report
INTRODUCTION Myocardial abscess is a rare and potentially fatal condition. Metastatic myocardial abscess in the setting of infective endocarditis has been infrequently reported in the medical literature. To the best of the authors' knowledge no case of myocardial abscess affecting the free wall of the left ventricle secondary to infective endocarditis of a right-sided heart valve has been repor...

Purpose: To assess the relationship between the severity of coronary arteries involvement and the extent and pattern of myocardial scars in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance of patients with history of remote myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images of sixty patients with history of remote ST segment or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were ...
متن کاملSexual Dimorphism in Volume of the Cerebral Hemispheres and Lateral Ventricles in Schizophrenia Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Purpose: This study is designed to determine the sexual dimorphism pattern in volume of the cerebral hemispheres and lateral ventricles in schizophrenia using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and to compare it with normal sexual dimorphism pattern in healthy brains. Materials and Methods: This study is performed on 29 healthy volunteers (21 males, 8 females) and 29 patients suffered from schiz...
متن کاملCardiac Tamponade following Mitral Valve Replacement for Active Infective Endocarditis with Ring Abscess
Periannular extension and abscess formation are rare but deadly complications of infective endocarditis (IE) with high mortality. Multimodality cardiac imaging, invasive and noninvasive, is needed to accurately define the extent of the disease. Debridement, reconstruction, and valve replacement, often performed in an emergent setting, remain the treatment of choice. Here we present a case of se...
